A happy morning at the Antiques Arcade in Hungerford yesterday, where, amongst other items, a couple of very nice old books crossed my path. Here are just a few illustrations from one of them - a bound volume of the "Young Ladies' Journal' from July to December, 1886. (Right clicking on any of the images will bring up a larger one, which you are welcome to download for your own use - have fun with them :-)).
Pears' Soap! I used it for years and was always complimented on my skin.
Love reading the old magazines- nearly any era 40 yrs old or older...in the US in the 19th c. there was Godey's, The Delineator and the Ladies' Home Companion. Great reading, though the serial stories were interminable.
You always find fun stuff!

I watch The Supersizers Go and it's eye opening to watch Giles and Sue dressed up in tight corsets and breeches and ate all the "strange" food from Regency, Victorian or the Middle East era. I don't think I can breathe with those corsets!
Really Angelic
