Sir Spectacular and one of his three wives, foraging about in the bark chippings outside the conservatory window yesterday evening. The little group has been visiting each morning and afternoon for the last few weeks; firstly, three cock pheasants visited with six females in tow...the two other cocks and three hens have gone elsewhere, but these three 'ladies' together with their beau have been the last to continue to call.
At the beginning of the week there were three females and Himself (who keeps his girls in order by quiet warbly-clucking noises just like a chicken). On Thursday there were two ladies, and yesterday evening, just this one.
Today - he is here all by himself... and somewhere, just over the hedge, on the margins of the field, I imagine there are three nests with three hen pheasants sitting contentedly upon them.
But no doubt he will continue to visit...all the local chaps know where the food gets dished out around here :-))
