A little sun, but cold and damp here on this January Saturday morning. Even so, these are some of the things I spotted in the garden on just a fifteen minute stroll.
The BEST sight in the winter garden...daffodil shoots already 5 cm (2 inches) high!
Hardly visible when covered with leaves...the attachment pads of the Virginia creeper - each pad just about 2 mm across.Buds also getting ready to plump up and burst out.
Brilliant green Sphagnum moss in the cracks between the brick surround of the herb garden. Loving the moisture and unbowed by the recent hard frosts
New growth already bursting from the hard-pruned Buddleia - waiting for the return of the butterflies!
More beautiful foliage - Cyclamen leaves with a curled up seed capsule hiding beneath them (see arrow)
Tranquillity - infusing an important element in the quiet garden by the Lower Pond
"Hey, you guys down there - leave some for me!"
