Oh Roz, I loved this posting. I, too, collect journals and find the same fascination in them as you do. My great-aunt lived and traveled in the Orient in the early 1900s and I have all her diaries and letters and have thought I might someday trace her steps on one trip. Then I went to India and have in my snapshots of that trip (and album that held them) photos of her in front of two different shrines and me in front of the same ones. The shrines hadn't changed one iota in all those years, only our form of dress identified which was which (oh yes, and hers in black and white and mine in color).

What a find! It is so interesting to read what people were doing almost 100 years ago. I wish my ancestors had kept diaries but I think I am the first in our lineage to do so.
