A glorious autumn day at Autumn Cottage - deep blue sky, orange and red, purple, russet and gold are filling the garden. The grapes are deepening, the leaves on the vine are turning
I indulged myself by spending most of the day outside - ostensibly to "tidy up". Specifically to repair the old greenhouse - battered and worn after nearly twenty years, but still capable of protecting tender plants over the winter - that is, if the pane of glass smashed in the storms of last winter was replaced.
So TODAY I got around to it! Off to the glass merchant to buy three
standard sized panes (now I have two spares for the coming winter!) -
and a ten minute job saw the interior now made watertight once again. I
think I will also line the interior with "bubble wrap" to insulate it
further - it can be bought on rolls these days, and installed very
quickly.
The rest of the afternoon was spent cleaning out the greenhouse, ready
to receive the tender plants, like this aeonium, the pelargoniums and the banana plant which have flourished on the patio all summer.
The days are still warm, but clear skies mean cold nights - and all too soon, I know, I will spend one day transporting pots to be safe under cover. But for now - let the sun shine, and let the gay colours of lingering summertime, though blending with the rich hues of autumn, enchant me for just a few days more....
I'm glad you have your greenhouse ready for the cooler weather, the nights are already a little chilly. The berries in the last photograph are beautiful - such a wonderful rich autumn hue and in such abundance.

Beautiful Roz. I am always curious to see photos from Autumn Cottage garden. We've had rain all week, so I haven't started autumn work in garden yet.

Always good to see glimpes of your garden Roz. Glad you had some tidy time and have your greenhouse ready for cold weather to come. Was surprised to see your pyracantha already with berries. It will be weeks yet until mine sets in that orange lush color.
