Oh Roz this is delightful...!
My Grandfather was born in 1893, and that puts this book and it's contents into context for me.
An age of innocence, yet the young men who trained themselves up in this way, would be some of those who perished at the start of WW1.

What a delight, Roz. We still make animal shadow pictures when we're up at the property since the lighting is primitive and there's not much of it. Now I have some new ones to add to my repertoire. Thanks for sharing with us.

lol we used to do those animal shadow things at girl guide camp in the tents at night with our torches - good clean simple fun!

I simply love such books. What alot of fun you can have when you have guests in your summer garden, or in your winter nights:-)
