I am so sorry to have to tell you all that just over two hours ago, my dear little girl was killed on the road outside the house, another beloved pet who has fallen victim to a passing car. Since the Newbury bypass was built ten years ago, the road has been so much quieter outside, but obviously still not quiet enough.
The young woman driver who had hit her was kind enough to knock and ask if I had a cat, and then direct me to her - I am so grateful that she was not left there on the road for other vehicles to run over her. Tomorrow, I will bury her in the garden of Autumn Cottage where she has played so happily all summer through.
I am heartbroken - I may well find Pip another, safer home while he is still young enough to settle elsewhere. I don't think I can bear any more heartache right now.
Dear Roz, let me hug you and tell you how terribly sorry and sad I am to hear of this. Lily, our dear little beauty!!! Roz, i'll be thinking of you, and you know, we won't forget Lily. Her life was way too short but it was a happy one.

Oh, Roz - I am so sorry.
I wish I could say that, if you do decide to let Pip go (don't be rash, take time and think about that one) I'd like to take him and have him up here where he'd be totally safe. Alas, tensions are high enough in the feline portion of this household and Lulu wouldn't bear another addition.

It is so difficult to lose a beloved pet. I'm really sorry to hear this happened and know how broken hearted you must be.

I am so so sorry Roz. I share your grief. The swift and unexpected loss of a beloved pet can't be described unless one has experienced it. What a blessing that the driver came knocking.

Sorry about your loss of Lily. How much joy they give us, our pets, and how deeply missed they are when they leave us through old age or accidents like this. But take a minute and think about it before you leave Pip to someboody else. It's not a good time to make a decision when you are upset and sad.
A hug from another cat-lover

As a cat lover who lost her 20 year old cat in January, I know how you feel - and I'm so very sorry. Lily was just beautiful. In her short life she had the best of everything. If you can, let Pip comfort you and know there are LOTS of cyberhugs coming your way.

Oh, Roz, I am so sorry. Lilly was beautiful. I know how hard this is. We had to take our boy kitty to be put to sleep. He had traveled all over the country with us, had grown up with our children, and was still active. He got some bad food that poisoned him, and it was either watch him die a horrible death, or have him put down humanely. I think that was the hardest thing I've ever done. My thoughts and prayers go with you, my dear. Eunice

Roz, I am so very sorry to read this post. It is terrible when you lose a wonderful pet.

Dear Roz, I'm so sorry to hear of Lily's demise. And how brave of that young woman to knock on your door! Not many people would have the strength of character to stop, let alone go alert the cat's probable owner. I'm sure it was traumatic for her.
Please don't decide about Pip right away. I don't know you personally but I think that you could not be happy without cats in the cottage. My heart goes out to you. You have been in my thoughts all weekend (because of seeing all the lantana thriving on the sides of freeways here in AZ), little did I know that you needed the warm thoughts of your well-wishers. I'm so sorry for your loss. HUGS, Marilyn
