Vision Boards, Treasure Maps, and Women of Inspiration

Several members of an (Inspirational!) online writing group, to which I have belonged for ten years now, are working on “Vision boards” in the run up to the New Year. (How are all yours coming along, Fran, Paula, ???). Vision Boards, Treasure Maps – they come in many guises...mine seem to be forming into a Book of Inspiration, to which I continually add.

A4 pages on various topics, at the moment topics that relate to my intentions for 2009 (I never call them resolutions – that way they don’t sit there asking to be broken!), but as wishes, wants, thoughts and ideas change throughout the year, the images will multiply.

 It is becoming a visual journal...and above you can see the page I created last night. I call this one “Women of Inspiration” and the images have been gleaned from the ‘net. Several of Dame Judi Dench dominate – no excuses, I find her HIGHLY inspiring...but see how many of the others you recognise. (UK readers will probably have an advantage, sorry!). LOVE, Judy Dench! She is my all time fav actress. Right under her are Helen Meren (sp?) and Maggie Smith. I have no inspiration boards/posters. What is their purpose?

I recognize J. Dench and Oprah. Yes, that's it, that's all.

If I had a board of inspiring women these are the first ones I'd have on it.
. Georgia O'Keefe (for art)
. Julia Childs (for cooking)
. Mia Angelou, P.D. James, Annie Dillard and Maxine Kumin (for the written word).

Besides excelling in their field, they are/were independent women who in some way cleared the way for the women who followed.

Judi Dench of course. I also recognize Oprah, Jeanne Moreau (I think) and Montserrat Caballe. That's all. If I had to choose inspirational women I'd also choose some of the blogger world. Some of them are inspirational on a daily basis, and that's heartwarming too.

The Vicar of Dibley, Dame Judi Dench, A Redgrave (or was that a Smith), Jane Fonda and Oprah. I'd love to meet the others, though.

In the pic there's dawn f., nigella lawson, maya angelou Judi dench in many poses, oprah, gianconda,maggie smith, possibly catherine deneuve? I dont think I am right to say princess Margaret, as I'm not sure if its her or not.

thats my list - a veritable heavyweight list of inspiration there!
