What a beautiful solution to the ugliness of a septic tank cover! I hear your comments about your back, dear lady, and sympathize/empathize with you. I've never been one to do things by halves...my #2 sis says if I'm doing something it's 115% for 5 months, then it sits in the closet until I get another burst of inspiration (perhaps a year or two later). It used to drive my Mom bonkers that I could have seven projects going at once, but then again, she was always surprised when I finished a few at the same time. Do take care of yourself and relax on a heating pad if necessary - feet up, something soothing to drink and an album of photos to amuse you. Hugs.

Gorgeous!!!! Your garden looks so inviting, I would love an afternoon there, enjoying your cats and all the green!

Roz, a nifty and thrifty soultion for something to cover the manhole cover. Great idea, looks good. An accomplished day for you but sory it did your back in. Love the final picture as well and picture you there. Rest relax and enjoy the last days of summer.

Dear Roz,
I know exactly what you mean when you talk about sudden fits of garden activity and their effects on an untrained body - but congratulations on your little island in the mid of green, you´ve done it up so nicely with the pallet and the pots. Yes, do take it easy - there´ll be many more gardening years coming.

Your garden is beautiful. I have a "bee in my bonnet" about gardening of a different sort -- actually SHRINKING my beds (which now, if combined, would cover about 1/2 acre), gradually moving things toward the center and transplanting specimens so that the size is more manageable for one person (I have NO helpers, and can't afford to hire them!). I'm currently thinking of transplanting perennial geranium, some lilies, and yes, peonies (I know they don't like change), as well as cutting back a big wigelia, so I can reduce one bed by about 1/4.

And in 9 days I'm off to Italy for 3 weeks!
