Love these!

Margaret Lambert

You and I are sister collectors, Roz. I do think that some must have been carved in Bavaria for other markets- Denmark, Norway, Black Forest... and they are very like the French santon figures. Your man on the far right, with the watch cap and pipe,I think is a fisherman. The woman who may have herded geese looks like the Salzburg area, with her short jacket and flat straw hat. I have books on folk costume, which help with identifying their regions. Charming!!

Roz, these figures are so great, they make me green with envy. I want some :-) They would be perfect with my creche from Provence :-)
