Small Stone #24
The task for today:
Filtering the contents of the boxes
for special items, mementos, heirlooms.
Wrapping them again,
together with their stories in little written notes,
my messages to loved ones of the future.
Couched in stories of the present,
interleaved with those of the ancestors,
fragments of the past, passed down to me.
Between us all, stitching the stories together,
Many threads embroider, intertwine and bind.
Beautiful. This really touched me as we are currently sorting through mum's things after her sudden passing late December. There are so many unknown stories, tales and memories we have lost connection with. What a beautiful gift you leave others to write a note to leave with the item - both will become a valued treasure. Blessings, L

I wholeheartedly endorse Louise's statement...all of us have stories to share, both our own and those we have heard from elders. They are such important links, heart to heart, to bind families together in spirit through many generations.

"Messages to loved ones of the future" - what a lovely line, and a wonderful thing to be sending...

I like the idea of leaving little notes for those left behind. My mother did that and we were all so glad.
