One of many journals in my life, I keep this '2 pages to a week' diary by my bedside - I jot just a few lines in it every night. It gives me a basic record of what I have done that day and acts as a 'memory jogger' if I want to write more, later, in greater detail. My entries are often in the form of lists and four years ago, this was my list for 9th August
Bought Terracotta pots for a song
A monster plant sale at a 'hidden up a country lane' nursery.
Waterlilies
An unexpected visit from my lovely younger son
A balmy August evening
Mushroom risotto with too much brandy in it for supper
The heavy scent of lilies wafting across the patio
Flickering candlelight
Drinks by the pond
Butterflies on the buddleia
Woodpecker on the feeder
Mr Scruffy shouting for his supper
ClassicFM
Sheep safely grazing, in the last shimmers of the setting sun
Today's entries are a little different!
Wind, black clouds and lashing rain all day
Spent the morning indoors, cleaning my bedroom and sorting out boxes and boxes of socks
Intermittent flaking out on the bed
Left over stuffed mushrooms plus salad for lunch
Flaked out in sitting room - drank tea, ate a cake and watched 'Escape to the Country'
GP visit to find source of fatigue. headache, stiff neck and flu-y symptoms
Treatment for (yet another) Lyme infection started - antibiotics plus blood tests
Drove home through more wind, rain and falling trees. Happy August, everyone!
Flaked out on sofa - Lord of the Rings for the n'th time
Gardener's World still down to only 30 minutes from an hour. Boo.
Summer in the country has taken a distinct downward turn over the last couple of weeks in more ways than one- but it can only get better - and my journals ARE a place for ALL of life (including the dodgy bits) - to be recorded. There will soon be more sunshine after the rain!
