Do you have a list of owners for your house and how far back does it go?

Yes we can see who owned our house since it was built in 1979. I can tell you every room was wallpapered back when it was popular. Now it has a coat of thick texture which I’ve sanded down in a few rooms. It still has the original terrazzo tile in the entryway which I don’t like and have it covered with a rug.

The previous owners of our house were the animals that lived among the trees and ferns. We built our house on a wooded lot and have enjoyed the return of some of the former inhabitants, i.e. bunnies, squirrels, deer, etc. The deer come down the street and into our wooded driveway - perhaps thinking it's the way back to their woods (behind the house). They realize that isn't going to work and wander back out the drive. Years ago there was an old man who we would see working on a piece of land that runs along the Maple Valley Highway. He had a little stool that he sat on and eventually he carved out a garden area. One day I stopped to chat with him. he said that he had uncovered pieces of crockery and various other things that indicated to him that there had been a home or dwelling there at one time. There was no other trace of such a structure. Thanks for sharing more of Autumn Cottage's history. The lavender cart was called the Honey Bucket in Nome (hearing that from my Dad's former boss who worked in Nome as a young man). As to the structure itself...here they're called outhouses, mountain houses, BIFFY (bathroom in forest for you - Girl Scout Camp), and privey.
